I recommend playing on easy the first time through. There can be a lot going on, but with all the options available it makes me really feel like I am in the seat of a really advanced piece of military hardware. Other than that you must also order resupply ships, command other fighters and bombs in your wing(s) and check targets, chase enemy bombs, and disable captial ship systems (you seldom have the firepower to take out capital ships by yourself, see the above mentioned cyclops bombs). As you are flying, you must balance your energy systems (guns, shields and engines), but also angle your shields (front, rear, left and right) depending on where you are attacked from. Bombers are slow and cumbersome, making them hard to maneuver, but the cyclops bombs pack such a heavy punch that they are really worth it.Īs far as operating the ships go, I must say there is some serious depth to it. And while the Hercules II heavy fighter feels chunkier and slower, you know that the tradeoff of having a bigger loadout is worth it. This makes the Perseus interceptor feel fast and nimble.
